Japanese Madness: Botejyu

Saturdays are meant for pamper time! For this Saturday, I went to my derma appointment in Vanity: Aesthetics Clinic to attend my monthly session. It was already past 12, my tummy growled as usual.

And, there’s this specific place in MOA beside the IMAX wherein there are unique restaurants that offer different cuisines – Korean, Japanese, Italian, say it all; it was named #MOAEats! Unfortunately, it’s still under renovation but this is something to look forward to. Let's all wait and try #MOAEats once it opens. I am so excited, are you?

Since #MOAEats is still under construction I need to find a good place to satisfy my cravings. In which we arrived at BOTEYJU, at first I was really star struck with the interiors and exteriors of the restaurant. I can feel the soothing ambiance from the outside plus, IT OFFERS MOUTHWATERING JAPANESE FOOD! With no hesitations, we went inside and asked for a table for two.

Service
We were gratefully welcomed by the staffs by saying “Irasshaimase!", same phrase used in some Japanese Restaurants like Ippudo Ramen House. It’s a form of welcoming their customers in their place! I was actually shocked when we entered because their shouts were loud (this is a good thing).

Ambiance
The ambiance was great! It feels like we were in a hotel. I love the interiors and their open kitchen! This is by far the restaurant that has classic interiors but it doesn’t have that much Japanese touch given that they offer this type of cuisine. Nonetheless, I truly enjoyed the ambiance of the place.

Food
It took me 15 mins to decide what to order! I badly want to order everything because every dish looks yummy and mouthwatering :--( By the way, their menu list was in a magazine type! Cool, right?

I ordered Beef Sukiyaki Rice Set (Php 395). It has noodles, poached egg, 3 pieces of tofu, spring onions and TENDER BEEF. This dish is also in a pan of sweet and salty sauce – a type of sauce that can actually be a viand! Yep, no kidding! This also comes with a green salad and rice. In my opinion, this is worth the price! Despite the fact that it can fill up your tummy, it can satisfy your cravings for high-class beef and umami flavored noodles! I will definitely come back to this restaurant just for this meal!

Since I have a big space in my tummy, I also ordered Umami Sauce and Mayo Takoyaki (Php 235). If you’ll compare Butejyu’s takoyaki to other brands like Kyotako’s takoyaki, Butejyu’s are bigger and tenderer than the others. Who doesn’t go gaga with takoyaki?! This one is a must try! It’s not your average takoyaki, I swear!

My dad ordered Chicken Kashiwa Rice Bowl (Php 325). This one is not a usual rice meal. The chicken was tender and tasty, it has a sour taste that adds more flavor! My dad said the salad on the side balanced everything to avoid ‘umay’. Also, the butter on top went well with the viand and rice. For me, the price is not that 100% worth it because I’m seeking for more flavor and kick from the dish (???).

My dad also ordered Shrimp Tempura Platter (Php 340). This consists of 5 pieces of large tempuras. I calculated the price per tempura and based on the price per set, it’s Php68/piece. For me, it’s actually worth it! Why? The tempuras were crispy and very tasty, even though you haven’t dipped it in the sauce. The shrimps were large and very fresh! What a blessing! We were not satisfied by the sauce of the tempura because it was not tasty. I expected more umami and flavorful one.

My dad ordered an Iced Tea (Php 85) and surprisingly, it’s not overly sweet! I actually have problems with iced teas in restaurants because it can be super sweet or tastes like water, there is no in between.

Overall, we were satisfied with the food that we ate and I will definitely go back to this restaurant, hopefully soon. Arigatou Gozaimasu!
